The Streeterville neighborhood is home to a variety of architectural styles including iconic modern condominium structures such as Mies van der Rohe’s 860-800 N Lake Shore and 900-910 Lake Shore, Skidmore Owing & Merrill’s John Hancock Center Condos and the newest addition to the neighborhood by Helmut Jahn – 600 N Fairbanks (regarded by many as one of the best high rises in all of Chicago).

We recently came across this property – a 3,000 square foot penthouse condo in the Helmut Jahn designed high rise (sorry this condo is not for sale).  Truly unique and modern, the unit was completely custom designed and is not like any of the other developer designed units.

The owners commissioned Eastlake Studio to design the space.  One of the features that we really like is how the concrete columns are treated / finished to give a smooth appearance versus the industrial look seen in many of the other condo units in the building which feature exposed concrete columns and ceilings.
